Today I woke up to the news of a 9 year old boy shooting his 13 year old sister in the head. This is obviously something that should never happen, and this is why I don’t understand why civilians in the US have access to guns.
Instead of looking at it from a more logical angle, like why the 9 year old had access to said gun, at least in my opinion, people blame video gaming, as always, because apparently they were having a fight over his video game controller.
“He’s just nine. I assume he’s seen this on video games or TV,” Sheriff Cantrell told the Clarion Ledger.
“I don’t know if he knew exactly what this would do. I can’t answer that. I do know it’s a tragedy.”
There’s no denial that he might have played video games, but the thing that bothers me is the fact that it seems like every single time something like this happens, it is being blamed on video games.
This simply doesn’t happen in other countries, and I’m sick and tired of seeing video games being blamed, in other countries access to guns are limited. This has nothing to do with video games and everything to do with American law. Blame yourself.
